چکیده

ABSTRACT The authors propose a new solution to the Independent Component Analysis (ICA) problem. In the two-dimensional case, we prove that under the whiteness constraint some fourth-order contrasts may be approximated by a sinusoid. Thus, the minimization of the contrast reduces to computing its phase. The novel approach, called SICA (Sinusoidal ICA), uses the ’Jacobi optimization’ to cope with higher dimensions. The method presented has a good performance along with a low computational cost. Some experiments with blind separation of audio and synthetic sources are included to compare the algorithm to other well-known approaches.

Adaptive Initialized Jacobi Optimization in Independent Component Analysis

In this paper, we focus on the fourth order cumulant based adaptive methods for independent component analysis. We propose a novel method based on the Jacobi Optimization, available for a wide set of minimum entropy (ME) based contrasts. In this algorithm we adaptively compute a moment matrix, an estimate of some fourth order moments of the whitened inputs. Starting from this matrix, the soluti...

Signal parameter estimation using fourth order statistics: multiplicative and additive noise environment

Parameter estimation of various multi-component stationary and non-stationary signals in multiplicative and additive noise is considered in this paper. It is demonstrated that the parameters of complex sinusoidal signal, complex frequency modulated (FM) sinusoidal signal and complex linear chirp signal in presence of additive and multiplicative noise can be estimated using a new definition of t...

Initialized Jacobi Optimization in Independent Component Analysis

The authors propose a new solution to the minimization of marginal entropies (ME) in multidimensional independent component analysis (ICA). Starting from the ’Jacobi optimization’ (JO), we focus on a novel method based on initialization. In this method, we first compute the moment matrix for the prewhitened inputs. Then, the moments at each iteration of this Initialized Jacobi Optimization (IJO...

Independent component analysis and (simultaneous) third-order tensor diagonalization

Comon’s well-known scheme for independent component analysis (ICA) is based on the maximal diagonalization, in a least-squares sense, of a higher-order cumulant tensor. In a previous papr, we proved that for fourth-order cumulants, the computation of an elementary Jacobi rotation is equivalent to the computation of the best rank-1 approximation of a fourth-order tensor. In this paper, we show t...

MLICA-Based Separation Algorithm for Complex Sinusoidal Signals with PDF Parameter Optimization

Blind source separation (BSS) techniques are required for various signal decomposing issues. Independent component analysis (ICA), assuming only a statistical independence among stochastic source signals, is one of the most useful BSS tools because it does not need a priori information on each source. However, there are many requirements for decomposing multiple deterministic signals such as co...
